Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 7, 2025
Welcome to STURIO ("we," "our," or "us"). We are committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our application.
1. Information We Collect
We may collect information about you in a variety of ways. The information we may collect on the Service includes:
- Personal Data: We collect minimal personal data to provide our service. This includes your name and a chosen "class level" (e.g., University Student) which you provide upon signing up. We do not require an email address or password.
- Usage Data: We automatically collect usage details, such as your practice history (quiz scores, topics), which are stored locally on your device's browser to personalize your experience.
- AI Interaction Data: Prompts you provide to our AI features (e.g., questions, topics for summaries) are sent to our AI provider (Google's Gemini API) to generate a response. If you provide your own Gemini API key, your requests are made directly from your browser to Google.
2. How We Use Your Information
Having accurate information permits us to provide you with a smooth, efficient, and customized experience. Specifically, we use information collected about you via the Service to:
- Create and manage your user profile within your browser's local storage.
- Personalize your app experience, such as showing your practice history.
- Enable the functionality of our AI-powered study tools by processing your inputs.
- Monitor and analyze usage and trends to improve your experience with the Service.
3. Disclosure of Your Information
We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal identification information to others. The information you provide is handled as follows:
- AI Service Providers: When you use our AI features, the content of your prompts is sent to Google's Generative AI services to generate responses. We do not log or store these prompts on our servers. Please review Google's Privacy Policy for information on how they handle data.
- Local Storage: Your user profile (name, institute, class level) and practice history are stored only in your browser's local storage. We do not have access to this data. Clearing your browser data will permanently remove this information.
4. Security of Your Information
We use administrative, technical, and physical security measures to help protect your information. While we have taken reasonable steps to secure the information you provide to us, please be aware that despite our efforts, no security measures are perfect or impenetrable, and no method of data transmission can be guaranteed against any interception or other type of misuse.
5. Your Data Rights
Because we store user data locally in your browser, you have full control. You can view, modify, or delete your user profile information through the "Settings" page in the application. You can clear your entire history and user data by clearing your browser's local storage for this site.
6. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page. You are advised to review this Privacy Policy periodically for any changes.
